Award(s) may be granted each year in each of the following categories, which includes individuals or organizations. Note: Selection committee reserves the right to redirect company category.

...involved in the Science, Art, and Practice of cultivating the soil, producing crops, and raising livestock and in varying degrees the preparation and marketing of the resulting products.
- Building/Construction
...involved in increasing the efficiency of resource uses such as energy, water, and materials while also reducing building impacts on human health and the environment during the building's life cycle.

...involved in the production or research of chemicals.

Consumer Products
...Producers of merchandise or other item of common or daily use, ordinarily bought by individuals or households for private consumption.

...dedicated to education at any level, public or private.
- Energy
...dedicated to conserving energy, finding more resourceful ways to be energy efficient, energy efficient buildings, industrial processes and transportation and helping control global emissions of greenhouse gases.

Award Categories
- Environmental Management
- Environmental management systems, sustainability programs, conversion to low emission vehicles, green building, solar, wind, renewable energy, etc.
- Mitigation
- Wetlands restoration, stream mitigation/restoration, pollution remediation, ocean, seas, and lake preservation etc.
- Outreach and Education
- Environmental awareness campaigns, land preservation, authoring books, lecturing, convention and conferences etc.
- Community Involvement
- Training programs, activism, governance, economic development etc.
Selection Criteria
Entries for each award category will be measured against the following criteria by a panel of three to five independent judges:
- Environmental Benefit
- Project, initiative or program should achieve overall environmental benefits. Benefits should be demonstrated through a comparison of the condition before implementation of the project, initiative or program to the condition after implementation using life-cycle analysis, risk analysis or other performance measures determined useful by the applicant.
- Innovation
- Project, initiative or program should exhibit innovation in working toward an environmental improvement or solution at a specific location or surrounding community. Examples of innovation include new technologies, methods or information, or innovative methods of implementing or utilizing existing technologies, methods or information.
- Effective Implementation
- Project, initiative or program should be effectively implemented in a manner that achieves maximum environmental benefit while cooperating with necessary stakeholders and partners and minimizing time, effort and cost.
- Widespread Applicability
- Project, initiative or program should contribute information, technology or techniques that provide an environmental benefit while demonstrating the potential for applicability for others.
- Cost Effectiveness
- Project, initiative or program should be cost effective as demonstrated, for example, through cost-benefit analysis, life-cycle costs or other cost comparison technique.
Eligibility
The award applicant may be an individual, group of individuals, or combination thereof. Applicants who have previously submitted an entry(s), but who did not receive an award, may resubmit that same entry in succeeding years without prejudice. Sponsors or members who are nominated will be excluded in the selection process.
Application Requirements
Application: Award applications must be submitted electronically in PDF or Microsoft Word format. Applications must be double-spaced and may not exceed 10 pages including all text, graphics and photos. The entry form and letters of support do not count toward the 10 page limit. Entry form may be e-mailed or mailed to the address below, but must be received by the deadline.
Applications must include the following:
- Completed official International Green Industry Hall of Fame Environmental Achievement Award entry form;
- A one-page application summary, signed and dated by the lead applicant representative;
- A narrative fully describing the project, program or initiative and how it meets the selection criteria; and
- At least three letters of support from an entity(s) other than the applicant(s).
Supporting documentation: Proponents are invited to submit other supporting documentation to demonstrate their case. Supporting documentation can include additional photos, CDs or DVDs, but all must be in electronic form... Applicants are requested to be selective in assembling their applications to avoid excessive e-paper generation and assist in maintaining a reasonable time commitment for panel members to review all submittals. If supporting documentation cannot be transmitted electronically, two physical copies should be submitted by mail before the deadline.

Submittal Requirements: Applications and supporting documentation must be submitted to the International Green Industry Hall of Fame by September 30, 2010 late applications or supporting documentation will not be considered.
Recipients: Will be notified by TBA with formal recognition at the IGIHOF Annual Recognition Dinner.
