Jorge, is originally from Lima-Peru, graduated with honors from the Peruvian Air Force Academy and Federico Villareal University with 13 years as a transport pilot. He met and married his wife Annie, and lived in the Amazon jungle for three years before they made the decision to move back to California to be close to family and start their own family. Using his business degree and his experience as an Air force Captain, he found a job at Tenaya Lodge as a Manager on Duty and become familiar with the hotel industry. Customer service, guest satisfaction, and guest conflict resolution were some of his strengths. Later in 2015, he started working as a Safety and Environmental Manager, where he developed a passion for the protection of the environment. He became an effective compliance trainer and advocated for safety and environmental concerns, while fostering a relationship between the company the mountain community. Parallel to his position working in the hotel business, he adopted mountain biking as a sport to enjoy the outdoors. It ignited a deeper relationship between him and the environment. Riding his bike after work in the amazing Sierra National Forest was a practice that kept him happy, focused and thankful for everyday life. In March 2020, due to the COVID19 pandemic, he was put on indefinite leave. During this time the refuge he found in mountain biking sparked discussions with Michael Broderick about a bike shop. Both wanted to use all their experience in customer service, marketing, and protection of the environment to provide a higher level of mountain biking services to the Oakhurst area and beyond. And the goal to open the best bike shop in the Yosemite-Central Valley area was born. Now with three years in business, Jorge is the Co-owner of Pedal Forward Bikes & Adventure in Oakhurst California, where he uses his environmental management skills to run a zero waste and triple bottom line business.
